I'm Becky Byrne, a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over 9 years' experience supporting children, teenagers and adults who stammer.
I am the founder of Unlock You Independent Speech Therapy, providing specialist stammering therapy across Surrey and online throughout the UK.
Alongside my independent practice, I work as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within a large London NHS Trust, where I specialise in the assessment and treatment of children and young people who stammer. This role allows me to work with complex presentations and remain at the forefront of evidence-based practice.
My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, compassionate and person-centred. Rather than simply focusing on fluency, I help people reduce struggle, build confidence and communicate more freely in the situations that matter most to them. Therapy is tailored to each individual and draws on evidence-based stammering therapy, psychological approaches including Solution Focused Brief Therapy to support lasting change.
I am also proud to serve on the committee of the National Stammering Clinical Excellence Network, helping to organise national training and professional development for specialist Speech and Language Therapists across the UK.
Whether you're a parent worried about your child's stammer, a teenager wanting more confidence, or an adult looking to change your relationship with stammering, my goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative space where you can develop the skills and confidence to communicate authentically.

Where are
we based?
Travel included if: 5 miles or under 15 minutes drive from the therapists base in Horley, Surrey.
Travel costs apply outside of this area. Travel costs include Mileage costs and Travel Time costs.
Mileage cost: Mileage is calculated using Google Maps and is charged at the standard rate of 50p per mile.
Travel Time: The time taken, in minutes, for the Therapist to travel from her base to the place where assessment/ therapy is delivered.
This is charged pro rata at half standard hourly rate (standard hourly rate currently £100)
